14th January 2023: Capparis wins nicely at Chelmsford under a well timed Oisin Orr ride. We're delighted to get our first winner of the year on the board and we're looking forward to a great year ahead. New members are always welcome, still just £249 for the year.
22nd December 2022: Capparis gets off the mark with a cosy win at Southwell with Cam Hardie in the saddle. Given a smart ride our Iffraaj filly sat close to the leaders and put the race to bed swiftly as the field straightened for home. A great way to round off a successful year for our members with a ninth winner of the year. We are very much looking forward to getting 2023 under way!
13th December 2022: Beattie Is Back scored his second win of the year at Wolverhampton under apprentice Zak Wheatley. Things had not quite gone his way on his previous couple of runs but today everything came together nicely for a convincing win. Our Mayson gelding was travelling very well in fourth down the back straight before quickening up decisively in the final couple of furlongs to pull clear. Club winner number eight in 2022, another trip to the winners enclosure for members in attendance.
26th November 2022: Club legend Crownthorpe scored his second win of the year at Wolverhampton with Oisin Orr in the saddle. The win was our seventh of the year and with dozens of runners throughout the year, we're delighted that so many of our members could enjoy a day at the races over the course of 2022 with a fair few trips to the winners enclosure. Earlier in the day our syndicated horse Gincident broke his maiden as well, again with Oisin in the saddle. As 2022 draws to a close, there's plenty to look forward to in 2023.
1st August 2022: Crownthorpe is back in the winners enclosure, what a legend he is! Now a seven year old he showed he still has a fair amount of ability when he gets his conditions. Members in attendance were hoping for some rain and the heavens opened an hour before he took to the track. Given a lovely ride by Joanna Mason, our Monsiuer Bond gelding relished the ease in the ground and went through field coming up the Carlisle home straight to record an easy win, the seventh of his career.
17th July 2022: Nearly a year to the day since La Feile won on debut, our Aclaim filly notched up her second win and our fifth winner of the year. Breaking well she sat behind the leaders galloping down Redcar's straight seven furlongs with Oisin looking confident. For a moment two furlongs out she looked in trouble but she stuck her head down gamely and in the end was quite a cosy one length winner. Another great day for our members in attendance.
27th June 2022: Lady Celia wins the races at Pontefract under a patient ride by five pound claimer Oisin McSweeney. Getting her favoured soft ground, the field came towards the stand side and she swung off the bend a past most of the field in a few strides. It was the fourth win of her career and we were delighted that plenty of members were present to welcome her and Oisin back to the winners enclosure.
7th June 2022: Our third winner of the year is in the bag as My Little Queens ran out a ready winner at Wetherby on her seasonal reappearance. It was a her fourth win in her last six races! The win was also Oisin Orr's first winner in our Club colours since taking up the role of stable jockey at Musley Bank. Given a patient ride Oisin, the pair nipped up the inside of the field two furlongs out and stayed on really strongly. Happy days for all members in attendance.
25th April 2022: Hello Power brings up winner number two of the year! Ridden by Connor Murtagh at Southwell, our filly showed guts and determination to fend off a late challenge from Hollie Doyle's mount. Whilst club members have enjoyed lots of racecourse action so far in 2022, we were delighted to get members in attendance back into the winners enclosure and we're hoping for many more during the turf season.
4th February 2022: Beattie Is Back gets off the mark with a nice winning performance at Newcastle under a confident Tony Hamilton. It was his third race and he put his previous experience to good use. Tony rode a patient race coming late with a run that saw him get his head in front in the final 100 yards. We're hopeful he will improve again and have our members back in the winners enclosure before to long.
30th December 2021: The year comes to a close following two really impressive debuts by Olivia's Choice and Glens Top Cat, both at Newcastle. With next years two year old's settling into life at Musley Bank as well, we're looking forward to a another fantastic year in 2022.
25th October 2021: As another successful turf season for our club members draws to a close, we're delighted to announce that in addition to club membership, Richard has decided to launch two new syndicates. Shares are available in our Camacho yearling filly and our Cotai Glory yearling colt, offering the opportunity for members and new prospective owners to take a full ownership share in either horse. Richard describes our Camacho filly as a strong girl and a great walker. Our Cotai Glory colt is as a good hardy colt that Richard really liked the look of and should be an early two year old. Select the links above to find out more and to reserve a share. Please do get in touch if you have any questions.
28th September 2021: My Little Queens secures our 13th winner of the year at Ayr. It was her third win from 12 runs and she did it well. Ridden by Paddy Mathers our filly burst to the front with a furlong to go and never looked like being caught. The win means we have now equaled our highest number of winners in a year and we're delighted to have provided our members with so many brilliant race day experiences.
25th August 2021: On his tenth start of the year, after four attempts ending in a second or third placed finish, Royal Guard finally got his head in front! Ridden by Tony Hamilton at Wolverhampton, he went into second coming round the home turn and powered up the home straight to record a three length victory. He brought up our 12th winner of the year and hopefully he can add another one or two to the tally before the end of the year.
4th August 2021: After a brilliant July where club members made it into the winners circle four times, Johnny Boom got August off to the best possible start with a win at Pontefract. Settled at the back of the pack by jockey Eireann Cagney. Under a lovely patient ride which the pair took the brave route and found a gap up the inside rail turning for home and stayed on strongly in the final furlong. The win brought up Johnny Boom's third win of the season and despite the torrential downpour members in attendance were all smiles as they experienced that winning feeling again.
19th July 2021: Our fourth winner of the month came courtesy Ionian Sea. Our Ardad gelding was making his debut at Beverley under Tony Hamilton. Up against a short price favourite with two runs already under it's belt, Tony took his time early and came to challenge inside the final furlong. The duel was brief though as once Ionian Sea got down to business, our latest two year old winner powered away up the hill to land our tenth winner of the year.
13th July 2021: Our glorious mid-summer run of form continued at Beverley as La Feile made a winning debut in the hands of Paul Hanagan. Our two year old Aclaim filly was slowly away and showed her inexperience when Paul asked her for an effort with three furlongs to go. Despite having plenty of ground to make up, as soon as she quickened she flew up the hill on the Westwood beating the 90 rated Sophie's Star into second. Exciting times ahead for club members following her journey through the rest of the summer.
10th July 2021: Whilst a large group of members enjoyed the sunshine on the Knavesmire at York watching our club flag bearer Crownthorpe in action, My Little Queens was giving members something to shout about at Hamilton scoring for the second time in a two weeks. Jamie Gormley did the steering to bring up our eighth winner of the year.
1st July 2021: Johnny Boom started July off with a bang at Yarmouth! With Paul back in the saddle, fresh from a convincing win at Beverley, the pair went off favourite. Always travelling well his supporters never looked like being disappointed as he hit the front a furlong out and won going away. The win was our seventh of the year and we're confident there is plenty more to come in the second half of the year!
